For many parents, choosing a daycare can be a tough process. With so many factors to consider, sometimes a good recommendation is needed to help parents make up their mind. The St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Child Development Center just got a big recommendation from the Brazos Valley community after being voted the 2010 Readers' Choice for "Best Daycare."
"We are delighted to receive this award for the second year in a row," said Lisa Phillips, daycare director for St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. "My staff and I are humbly grateful to receive this honor again."
The church's child development center began in January 2001 as a Mother's Day Out program and expanded to a complete daycare the summer of 2006 by adding a full-day program. The Mother's Day Out program was simply re-named their part-day program with both programs still providing the safe and loving Catholic environment it began with nine years ago.
"We consider ourselves lucky that our families have chosen our school for their precious little ones. Many of our parents have told us they recommend us to their friends and co-workers. What a compliment this is," Phillips said.
The staff at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Child Development Center keeps its goal of providing a loving, safe, clean and Christian environment for the children they care for. Phillips said the children are their top priority and their motto of blending faith, joy and learning helps the staff make the most of every day with the children.
"We begin each day with a group prayer," she said. "We offer personal intentions, as well as ones for our students and their families. I believe beginning our days with prayer helps us keep a positive attitude and a helpful and happy spirit."
Phillips said that they strive to make their children and parents feel "like family." "My office staff and teachers greet families with a smile and conversation. We want them to know the courtesy and care we give are genuine," she said. "We're grateful they chose us and trust us with their children. Our staff takes pride in keeping our students well cared for and we believe this makes our school’s reputation.”
St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Child Development Center, located at 2541 Earl Rudder Freeway in College Station, has programs for children six weeks old through pre-kindergarten and offers full- or part-day hours.
