Koppe Bridge Bar & Grill is a firm favorite for the “Best Big Burger” in town. This year is no different. Koppe Bridge Bar & Grill has won the Readers’ Choice Award for Best Hamburger in the Brazos Valley for eleven years running. You just can’t get better than that!
Owners Delph and Glenda Ross first opened their doors at their Wellborn Road location in College Station in 1992. With the original desire to simply sell a few burgers and cold beer, the Rosses have made the burger business a big business in Bryan/College Station. In 2002, a second location was opened on Harvey Road, and in 2008, the expansion into Historic Downtown Bryan took Koppe Bridge to a new level. River Bridge Bar & Grill opened on Main Street in Bryan and is a staple choice for lunch with friends and colleagues or to enjoy a great and affordable evening out with family and other locals. “The full service bar at our Downtown location has been a hit among our regulars. It’s relaxing and just a great place to connect with old friends.” Delph said. “We have a great happy hour with signature martinis. Our private event room has become popular for parties and rehearsal dinners.”
In addition to First Friday festivities, the Rosses are sponsoring River Bridge Jam 2010 on the second Friday of each month through October. This is a free monthly concert series held at the Palace Theater in Downtown Bryan. They have also completed a relaxing outdoor beer garden and entertainment area at their Wellborn Road location in College Station.
But, it’s the old-fashioned, great tasting burgers that keep bringing the customers back. “We’re a locally-owned restaurant that is all about creating an environment in which great homemade food brings people together,” Glenda said. “We attribute our success to our old-fashioned hamburgers, home style fries and a feel-good, relaxed atmosphere. The quality ingredients we use and the simple fact that we cook-to-order have kept our customers coming back for more. Each of our establishments attracts a unique following.”
The Ross’ philosophy begins close to their hearts. “We have built a successful business with a lot of hard work, great employees, a loyal customer base and our desire to use local wholesale suppliers and service providers in the course of our daily business,” Delph said. “We also support local schools and charities as we understand how important it is to give back to our community.”
“Our loyal following includes locals, current and former students, and a few famous faces.” Glenda said. “From time to time, dignitaries including former President George H.W. and First Lady Barbara Bush, Dr. Robert Gates, Rick Perry and Steve Ogden come in to dine. Meeting Mrs. Bush was extraordinary!” She said, “They always seem to enjoy a warm Aggie “howdy” from our other patrons.”
Koppe Bridge Bar & Grill has been voted #1 as the Readers’ Choice for Best Hamburger since 1999. There are numerous other accolades for which the owners and employees are very deserving, including recently being named the #6 burger in Texas by the Houston Press. Stop by any of their locations for an award winning burger. This IS Texas Paradise!
